Arlington resident crowned Miss Memphis Princess

Arlington resident Lacey Ann Thron, a junior at Arlington High School, was named the 2009 Miss Memphis Princess on October 11, 2008 at the 62nd Annual Miss Memphis Scholarship Pageant. She is the daughter of James and Deborah Thron and will be an advocate for her platform of "Breast Cancer Awareness" throughout her year of service. Lacey was granted a $100 cash award sponsored by the Memphis Jaycees and the contestant fees waived to compete at Tennessee's Outstanding Teen/Princess Pageant.

Bartlett resident Ivy Depew was named Miss Memphis 2nd alternate. Ivy also received The Memphis Jaycees Community Service special award.

Presented by the Memphis Jaycees, the Miss Memphis Scholarship Pageant, the longest-running pageant in the state, is part of the Miss America organization, the world's largest scholarship program for young women."I am so please to have the opportunity to work with these amazing young women and am proud to welcome them into the Miss Memphis family," said Executive Director and Producer Shay Bader-Wallace. "They have an exciting, and busy time ahead with preparations both their state pageants as well as their many appearances. I am certain they will be wonderful representatives for our great city."
