MEMPHIS (September 14, 2007) - Miss Memphis Nicole Jordan will make her first appearance at Memphis Motorsports Park this Sunday, Sept. 16, to sing the National Anthem during opening ceremonies for the O'Reilly NHRA Mid-South Nationals.
Jordan, 18, of Cordova, Tenn., won the Miss Memphis title in December, as well as the talent portion of the competition with her powerful vocals, and is a student at the University of Alabama, where he is majoring in musical theatre and nursing.
The Miss Memphis Pageant debuted in 1947 and celebrates 60 years as the longest running pageant in the Volunteer State.
The O'Reilly NHRA Mid-South Nationals celebrate 20 years - 20 consecutive runs - at Memphis Motorsports Park. Qualifying is Friday and Saturday, and opening ceremonies begin Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
While the "Nitro" section behind the starting line is already sold out for this year's event, there are still good seats remaining - both on the pit and spectator sides of the 1/4-mile championship drag strip - for the Sept. 14-16 weekend that include access to the new Quarter Mile Club tent. And as fans at Memphis Motorsports Park have known for years, "there's not a bad seat in the house." So don't miss this event - where every ticket is a pit pass, and every car is a rocket!
